Another version of Satoshi does exist, in Toshihiro Ono's work, Dengeki Pikachu It was a fairly controversial piece of work, but Viz was happy to censor the disturbing aspects of this manga when releasing it overseas. It's out of print now, but hopefully Viz will re-release it one day, since they are also re-releasing Pokémon Special.

Manga Satoshi's story starts off rather differently. Instead of getting Pikachu from Orchid-hakase, he finds it in his house. The Onisuzume clash does happen, but the leader is an Onidrill and Satoshi catches it. There are a lot of other things that the manga does differently, as Ono decided to take it in a direction different from the anime. For example, Hiroshi beats Shigeru in the Sekiei League. Boo, hiss, etc.

Anime Satoshi and Manga Satoshi do have their differences as well. While Satoshi in the anime is completely indifferent to romance and the only time he has ever been so much as attracted to a girl was way back when, the manga version of Satoshi has a big crush on Shigeru's sister, Satsuki.

On that subject, manga Satoshi also has a tendency to quickly fall in love, somewhat like Takeshi does. Weird, huh? So, yeah, the manga Satoshi is quite different to his anime self when it comes to romance.

Of course, this page wouldn't be complete without some pictures of Satoshi from the manga. He's such a cutie! ^_^
