During the Battle Frontier, one of the best episodes ever was aired and this episode was known as Battle Pyramid! vs Regirock! Why is this one of my favourite episodes of all time? Well, if you already know what happens in that episode and you know what this site is about, then you should already have figured it out by now. This episode features Evil Satoshi, or Possessed Satoshi. Actually, Possessed Satoshi is more accurate as he didn't actually turn evil. His body just got invaded by an evil spirit for most of the episode, which made it a darn cool episode. How often do we get to see Satoshi be possessed after all? It all began when Satoshi and co. were on the way to the Battle Pyramid. They fell through the ground and landed in some underground ruins. While exploring, Satoshi got a little careless and set off a trap. The group ran from the rolling boulder of doom and were saved by Jindai and his Regirock. Jindai was exploring the ruins and told everyone about the story of Pokélantis. Long, long ago, the King of Pokélantis sought to use Ho-Oh's power so that he could take over the world. Ho-Oh did not like this idea one bit and made it quite clear by destroying Pokélantis. It was an evil civilisation apparently, but I can't help but wonder if it was okay to go blow up an entire civilisation. What about the women and children? Anyway, the King managed to escape and sought revenge on Ho-Oh. Supposedly, Ho-Oh was sealed up within a stone ball and placed within those underground ruins. Satoshi wanted to go and find Ho-Oh and set it free. If I heard of a very cranky bird being sealed inside a stone ball for a thousand years, the last thing I would want to do is let it out because I'd be afraid it would be really cranky and blow more stuff up anyway, but this is Satoshi we're talking about. Jindai tried to tell Satoshi not to do it, but Satoshi got annoyed and ran off to find it by himself. Jindai and the others gave chase but were unable to stop Satoshi from falling through a door. That door just happened to lead to the King's chambers. So, Satoshi and Pikachu were now inside the King's chambers. Satoshi saw a stone ball sitting on the throne and immediately picked it up, calling for Ho-Oh to come out. Jindai, Haruka, Masato and Takeshi came running in but were too late to stop Satoshi. A deep voice came out from the ball and then a strange, dark energy came out as well, disappearing into Satoshi who collapsed. It was at this moment that Satoshi was possessed by the King of Pokélantis. The King had not trapped Ho-Oh inside the stone ball after all, but sealed his own ambition within it and now he wanted to get back to attempting to take over the world. He even tried to steal Haruka's Monster Balls, demanding that everyone hand over their Pokémon to him. Jindai stepped up and challenged the King to a battle. The conditions were as so: If Jindai won, the King would have to release Satoshi. If the King won, then he could have Jindai's Pokémon and do whatever he liked. Jindai and the King did battle within the Battle Pyramid. Jindai went with Regirock and Satoshi chose Jukain (the King had allowed him to wake up within his mind so that he could help with the battle) Regirock's defence proved to be quite formidable, which frustrated the King and he had Jukain attack the ceiling, burying Regirock under a pile of rocks. Jindai exclaimed that the King was just a coward and a cheater, which annoyed Satoshi enough that he broke the King's control for a second to defend himself. However, the King quickly regained control and the battle continued. Regirock was going to use Hyper Beam, but the King had Jukain hide behind the referee and Jindai was forced to tell Regirock to cancel the Hyper Beam. The King had Jukain attack one of Regirock's legs. Jindai called for Lock-On, which meant the next attack would hit for sure. The King had Jukain attack the other leg, making Regirock unable to move. Jindai then had Regirock use Hyper Beam. The King told Jukain to dodge, but Lock-On meant that Hyper Beam hit and Jukain was knocked out. The referee declared that the battle was over, but the King was unwilling to accept defeat and tried to tell Pikachu to get into the battle instead. Takeshi, Haruka and Masato ran in to protect Pikachu from harm and tried to reason with him. The King ordered Pikachu to use Thunderbolt on them. Along with Jindai, they tried to call out to Satoshi. Satoshi then remembered that Takeshi, Haruka and Masato were his best friends (I don't know, he must have been really confused being possessed by an evil spirit) and figured that he needed to do something, so he called for Pikachu to use Thunderbolt on him. The Thunderbolt drove the evil spirit out of him and Jindai resealed the King within the stone ball.
I love this episode so much, I really do. There are some minor disappointments, like Satoshi not getting to have his own voice while possessed. An evil Satoshi voice would have just been plain awesome. Instead, we got some old, dead guy voice as the King, which was a shame. I also think it would have been hilarious had Roketto-dan actually met with everyone while Satoshi was possessed and he tried to steal their Monster Balls as well. But, no, all they do is run around the ruins and get attacked by Pokémon. I didn't really like the Roketto-dan segments in this episode, they kept interrupting the awesome plot and that was annoying. Also, I really wish more had been done with the Possessed Satoshi plotline, because Possessed Satoshi was just plain awesome. It would have been a brilliant plot for a movie, I think. Haruka, Masato and Takeshi could spend time trying to free Satoshi while he's possessed by the King's spirit and they could have set the movie in Pokélantis itself. Ho-Oh could have made an actual appearance. It would have been an amazing movie for sure.
