Satoshi's original outfit, which he wore from Kanto to the end of Johto. He was modelled after the protagonist of the first Pokémon series, Red. Satoshi wears a black/dark green shirt and a blue and white jacket with yellow markings. He also wears jeans with white on the bottom, and blue, white and red sneakers, as well as light green gloves with lighter green bands. His red and white hat with a green letter L on the front is the official Pokémon League Expo hat. It was a very special hat that Satoshi sent in about a thousand postcards for, and he became quite enraged when a Mankey stole it.
In Advanced Generation, Satoshi changed his outfit. He now wore a blue hoodie with a Monster Ball symbol on it and black sleeves. It had yellow markings on it, the same as his old Kanto jacket. He also wore a different pair of jeans and blue and white sneakers, plus darker green gloves, though they remained light green on the bands. His precious hat was replaced with a different one, a black and red hat with a green Monster Ball symbol upon it. His Advanced Generation outfit was possibly designed to still be similar to his Kanto outfit, perhaps to avoid confusion. Satoshi wore this outfit through Hoenn and the Battle Frontier saga, as well as the start of the Diamond and Pearl series in Sinnoh.
Satoshi now wears a vest in Diamond and Pearl, though it is always closed. It is black with a yellow stripe running across and is sleeveless. He wears a white shirt underneath. He also wears new pants with this outfit. The sneakers have been swapped with a red and black model. However, his gloves are the same as in Advance Generation. The hat has been changed again, while similar to the Advanced Generation hat, the black area is slightly larger and the Monster Ball symbol is blue rather than green. Satoshi wears this outfit throughout his journey in Sinnoh.
